The 193-member United Nations General Assembly voted on Thursday to suspend Russia from the UN Human Rights Council after the US proposed a resolution that gained 93 votes in favor and 58 abstentions, including India.
With 93 votes in favor, 24 against, and 58 abstentions, the resolution titled “Suspension of the Russian Federation’s rights of participation in the Human Rights Council” was passed.
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates were among those that voted no.
